Focus on the small things.
My good friend, Olive, says you want to “surprise and delight” people.
She often focuses on surprising and delighting people when someone enters the building BUT before they enter the event.
Remember the last event you went to? What stood out to you? What did you tell someone about after the event?
It likely was about who was there, the conversations you had, or *something else.* That something else likely didn’t cost a lot of money either.
It probably was a surprise and delight moment.
At Your Event
Sooo… how can you surprise and delight someone at your event?
Think about someone’s event attending journey…
How do they enter? Where do they walk? What buttons do they push? When they walk in, what happens? These are your opportunities to surprise and delight people.
If someone enters your event with a smile, your gathering is off to a better start. Sounds good, right?
One “surprise and delight” example
At a recent event, I decided to give people wet hand towels to cool off right when they walked into the venue. People really liked this nice touch.
And how did these hand towels actually get delivered to people at the event???
That same Olive I mentioned before. The one and only Olive Persimmon! She is a legend. Follow her. Email her. I have learned a lot from her. Actually… consider buying one of her books. My favorite one is Olive Un-filtered.
