My 2Q Work Reflections

In general, 2Q26 was a stronger quarter than 1Q16, but with higher highs and lower lows.
It was stronger because I worked on more projects in 2Q, and it felt like I ended the quarter with momentum and that my work is compounding.
I had lower lows because my work is lumpy and unpredictable, leading to uncertainty.
In 2Q, I did not have a big multi-month project like prior quarters too. This meant that I was working on smaller and more projects.
The benefit of this and having more clients, in general, is that I hope that I can work with them again and increase the scope and length of collaborations in the future.
In addition to these more quantifiable updates, I am learning new skills and growing as a person, which I think is a big benefit of being a soloprenuer.
Things that I have done that have been helpful:
sending a “Slice of Life” personal and professional update email update that Charlie O’Donnell talked about here. If you send an email like this, please add me to your next one if you want!
instead of saying “hey, we should work together” in a vague way, I am trying to present specific ideas instead.
communicating what I am up to and if I have work capacity. I shared this in an Instagram Stories once and it led to me working with someone on a project
an “offsite with friends” to discuss my work, problem-solve, and get new ideas with a crew of amazing builders
being more strategic about the content that I am sharing
following-up with people that I have a warm relationship with, even if it has been some time since we last connected
