Hi friend! I hope your 2024 is off to a fun and energizing start!
In the last few years, I have been hosting more and more events. It’s been awesome and has helped my life in so many ways!
Do you want to host more events in 2024? If so, here are 5 things to think about:
When: Pick a date. Once you pick a date, action follows. You have skin in the game and accountability to yourself and eventually to other people. This inertia and momentum is a powerful thing. It moves me forward until the event.
Who: Who is coming? People want to be with their friends and other like-minded people. People also want to know who else is going to be there! If you can, try to help with this!
What *is* the event? What is the gathering about and for? If possible, try to make it a shared experience. With my Podcast Mixers, multiple people are usually involved to co-create the experience. This happens by multiple people sharing on the podcast or asking questions. A shared experience makes it easier for people to talk at the event… and after!
Why: Why are you all gathering? You don’t have to have a profound reason, but if you do, lean in into. It can be as simple (and as awesome) as we are gathering to reconnect with old friends and meet new people!
How: How are you all gathering? Are there icebreakers? Is there content or entertainment? Is this agenda communicated to people? Clear and specific communication about an event can go a long way. This also helps manage expectations, which is important with events too!
ALSO… if you are looking for a tactical book on hosting events, read Nick Gray’s The 2-Hour Cocktail Party!
I made a quick little video summarizing these points for you. PS: do you like these videos?

#300: Inflection Moments
Thank you for being part of my podcasting journey. I recently published episode #300. It’s wild to say, sorry type that haha. I may have something more profound to say, but for now, keep going.
In this episode, I also shared an inflection moment of mine.
In late 2018, two people took a chance on me with the show. Their belief in me really empowered me. I saw myself differently as a podcaster. And around that time, I was invited to be a coach in The Podcasting Fellowship. This encouraged me to keep going with the show and more!
