Do you feel like it’s hard to know what people are up to?
You look at their social media, and it’s often just a highlight reel, right? I think there are three things you can do:
ask them questions
create a Now page
share more about what you are up to, which might encourage them to share
So this is my attempt to share more… What are you up to NOW? Let me know!
It’s March 17 2024. There is a new type of energy in NYC right now, and I am feeling it with my work and life too. It feels expansive, abundant, and dynamic! Let’s go!
Podcast Mixers
Outside of work, this is where I am spending a lot of time and energy…. I accidentally hosted a Podcast Mixer 10 weeks in a row ending in January. Opportunities came up. A new format emerged. And I wanted to push through the winter social slow-down. It’s crazy what we can accomplish when we want to do something!
With my foot off the gas a little bit now, I am exploring additional opportunities and possibilities with this repeatable, flexible and dynamic format for people to connect and learn together.
Last year, I hosted a Podcast Mixer at a retreat and also did one in another city. Maybe I will do more of this in 2024…. maybe not!
That said, I want to double-down on Podcast Mixers in 2024. And I am interested in bringing this proven model to more people in different places and spaces!
Reach out if you have ideas!
Chief of Staff Network
Since August 2021, I have been working here as a Community Manager. These days, my role is focused on producing and hosting IRL and virtual events, courses, and cozy half-day experiences (e.g. our Brain Trust event in NYC on 4/4).
I am developing my skills here as a producer, facilitator, host, and more. Things I like doing, which is great!
New York City
Wow, I am coming up on 8 years of living in NYC and have been in the same apartment in Williamsburg for 6+ years. This has led to a lot of benefits like seeing friends on the street more, etc. It’s amazing and this Spring in NYC is going to be special!
I am hearing about and seeing more intentional gatherings, people wanting to cultivate deeper friendships, and people exploring new ways of doing life vs talking about their lives (h/t this article).
Portfolio Career Podcast
The podcast feels more sustainable now then it ever has. I am kind of going back to my roots more by chatting with my friends more IRL on it, in addition to hosting Podcast Mixers with friends. I am having a lot of fun! I am grateful that it has connected us, thanks for being here!
A New Project
I am working on a new project. It’s a gathering, and I am excited about it. I will share more about it when I can!
How about you? What’s new in your world? What are you up to?
If you prefer a video update, here you go!
Speaking of what I am up to…. I was lucky to be on Fanni Gabor’s podcast. We talked about it some of these things mentioned in this post and more, particularly about my thoughts on the Chief of Staff role and relationships! Let me know what you learned from this!

#311: The Way Forward book chat with Samanee Mahbub
Have you read Yung Pueblo’s book The Way Forward? My good friend, Samanee, and I chatted about the book and how it shows up in our lives about self-awareness, relationships, and so much more!
Here are a couple of quotes that I love from the book:
“Your intuition will lead you outside your comfort zone so you can grow”
“Long-lasting friendships and relationships often break under the weight of control”
“Love is every moment that elevates the human experience and all the small things that make life shine”
“Your inner wisdom will show you the way forward”
#310: The Hot Seat with Adam, Lani and Pasquale
Compared to the first Hot Seat Podcast Mixer, the people on the Hot Seat started with a topic or theme. This evolution shows that you can learn something from each gathering you host, which is really cool. In this episode, you will learn about abstaining from common things, friendships/relationships, creativity, media, and software and so much more!
Alright, that’s it for now.
Thanks for being here,
-David Nebinski, who wants to know what you are up to now! LMK!
